Most people who are aware of us do not know that the name of our company has a dual meaning. One of the reasons that the founder of our company went into antiques in the first place is because he didn’t want to negatively impact the environment whilst earning a living. Selling antiques is the purest form of reuse and recycling; each generation being only a temporary custodian of the glassware.
Unfortunately the need to send glasses by post has historically meant using materials that are not always recyclable. We are pleased to announce that we have now been able to source materials that allow us to provide packing materials that are wholly recyclable and/or biodegradable. If you receive a parcel from us with the label shown below attached:
then it contains the following wrapping materials:
– acid free tissue paper which can be recycled;
– biodegradable green bubble wrap which can be put onto the compost heap;
– cellulose based loosefill which will dissolve in water;
– a cardboard box which can be recycled;
– paper based tape which can be recycled;
– cellulose based tape which is biodegradable;
– paper labels which use plant based adhesives which can be recycled.
If you are not going to reuse the materials then just tip the loosefill and bubble wrap onto your compost heap and put the rest in the recycling bin. It is all biodegradable.
On occasions you may receive a parcel from us which does not bear the above label. Although we now only buy biodegradable packing materials some of the people who send glass to us do not. Rather than send those packing materials to landfill we reuse them where we can.
The world truly is fragile (if not wholly made of glass) and we try to do our little bit to help. Hopefully you are doing the same.
