This is a block vase, designed by Bengt Edenfalk for Skruf of Sweden, dating from the late 1950s. It is part of the Corona series. Bengt Edenfalk (1924-2016) designed for both Skruf glassworks and Kosta Boda in the 1950s–1980s. His work is exhibited at the Swedish National Museum of Art and Design.
The vase is in excellent condition for its age. It shows some age related wear and tear commensurate with 70 years of use.
Rectangular in shape, the vase measures 13 cm (5.2 inches) by 6 cm (2.4 inches) across the rim and is 14.8 cm (5.9 inches) in height. The vase is made in clear glass and is moulded with large indented hobnails to all four sides. The vase is signed in script to the base “Edenfalk Skruf ELB 57”. There is a plastic label to one side which reads “Skruf Sweden Full Lead Crystal”. There are no chips, cracks, significant scratches or any evidence of restoration.
The vase weighs 1.83 kg. (~ 4 lb.).
