This is a Franz Reuleaux designed enamelled and gilded wine glass for the Fritz Heckert glass house in Petersdorf, Germany and dating from the early 20th century, c1910. The glass shows Islamic influence and is from the Jodhpur range.
The glass is in excellent condition for its age. It shows age related wear and tear to the rim of the foot consistent with some 100 years of use.
The glass has a cup-shaped bowl measuring 7.7 cm (3.1 inches) in diameter at the bowl rim. The glass has been blown in clear glass and then enamelled and gilded. The rim of the bowl is gilded above a band of blue enamel enhanced by gilded trailing foliage. The bulk of the bowl is gilded with a band of figurative flower stalks picked out in white enamel within gothic-shaped panels of green and blue glass, the gaps being enamelled in amethyst. The otherwise plain stem is cut with six vertical facets towards the base and is then nipped in just before the foot. The glass ends in a plain foot which measures 7.5 cm (3 inches) in diameter and displays a blue enamelled and gilded band to the top that complements the band under the rim. The glass is 20 cm (8 inches) in height. There are no chips, cracks, significant scratches or any obvious signs of restoration.
Lead glass. It weighs in at 152 g. ( ~ 5 1/2 oz.).
