This is a scarce early Georgian, English, wrythen-moulded flammiform dwarf ale glass dating from the beginning of the 18th century, c1740.
The glass is in good condition for its age. This means, of course, that it shows age related wear and tear to the rim of the foot consistent with some 280 years of use. It has a rough pontil mark on the underside of the foot.
The glass has a funnel-shaped bowl measuring 5.8 cm (2.3 inches) in diameter at the upper rim. The bowl is wrythen-moulded with a second gather of glass that reaches up to within two centimetres of the upper rim and has a flammiform fringe. The bowl sits directly on a conical foot which measures 5.8 cm (2.4 inches) in diameter. The glass is 11.5 cm (4.6 inches) in height. There are no chips, cracks, significant scratches or any obvious evidence of restoration.
An early glass, it is made from lead metal weighing 135 g. (~ 5 oz.).
