Georgian half wrythen-moulded dwarf ale glass, folded foot

£45.00

Out of stock

This is a scarce Georgian, English, half wrythen-moulded dwarf ale glass with a folded foot dating from the beginning of the 19th century, c1810.

The glass is in excellent condition for its age. This means, of course, that it shows age related wear and tear to the rim of the foot consistent with some 200 years of use. It has a rough pontil mark on the underside of the foot.

The glass has a funnel-shaped bowl measuring 6 cm (2.4 inches) in diameter at the rim. The bowl is wrythen-moulded to the lower half and sits on a short, wrythened stem and a conical, folded foot which measures 7.2 cm (2.9 inches) in diameter. Folded feet on wrythened dwarf ale glasses are uncommon. The glass is 12.7 cm (5.1 inches) in height. There are no chips, cracks, significant scratches or any obvious evidence of restoration.

It is made from lead metal weighing 100 g. (~ 3 oz.).
