This is a boxed John Rocha for Waterford Crystal black glass High Band Cased ship’s decanter and stopper.
The decanter is in excellent condition for its age. It shows no age related wear and tear to the base and is apparently unused.
The decanter has been blown in clear glass which has been cased in black and then cut through to clear to reveal a wide band of hobnail diamond cutting. It has a plain, black neck. It measures 18.5 cm (7.4 inches) in diameter at its widest point. The stopper is a cylindrical form and is almost certainly the original. Assembled, the decanter measures 26 cm (10.4 inches) in height. There are no chips, cracks, scratches or any evidence of restoration. It retains its original paper label for “JohnRocha at Waterford Crystal” and another to the base which reads “DECANTER HIGH BAND CASED LEAD CRYSTAL” and a bar code. The base also carries an incised “JohnRocha Waterford” mark with the Seahorse logo.
It weighs in at 1.61 kg. (~ 3 lb. 9 oz.) without the box and 1.875 kg. (~ 4 lb. 2 oz.) with the box.
