This is a late Victorian/Edwardian, Bristol blue glass Poison bottle and stopper dating from the turn of the 19th/20th centuries, c1900.
The bottle is in excellent condition for its age. This means, of course, that it shows the age related wear and tear to the rim of the base consistent with some 100 years of use.
The bottle was made in Bristol blue glass and is vertically rib-moulded to one side. The word “POISON” is moulded into the shoulders of the bottle both above the ribbing and verso. The bottle measures 5 cm (2 inches) in diameter. It is 13.5 cm (5.4 inches) in height without the stopper and 15.3 cm (6.1 inches) in height to the top of the stopper when inserted. There are no chips, cracks, significant scratches or any evidence of restoration.
There is a Bristol blue pentagonal form stopper of the correct style that comes with the bottle. It is probably the original being of the same metal, colour and an excellent fit.
It weighs in at 170 g. (~ 6 oz.).
