This is a very large Tami vase, designed by Michael Boehm for Schott Zwiesel of Germany. These vases were hand-made/mouth-blown using the over catch method using three different colours of glass. The vase was originally blown in clear glass then cased in white on the inside and with light cinnamon coloured glass on the outside to give a depth of colour that looks particularly impressive when backlit.
The vase is in excellent condition. It shows some age related wear and tear to the rim of the base consistent with use.
The vase is of compressed ovoid form and measures 26 cm (10.4 inches) in diameter at its widest point and is 42 cm (16.8 inches) in height. The vase ends in a base which carries a large polished out pontil mark. The top of the vase carries a paper label on which the legend “HANDMADE ZWIESEL 1872” is imprinted. There are no chips, cracks, significant scratches or any obvious evidence of restoration.
It weighs in at 4.55 kg. (~ 10 lb.).
