This is a scarce, Georgian multi spiral air twist stem wine glass dating from the middle of the 18th century, c1750.
The glass is in excellent condition for its age. It shows age related wear and tear to both the rim of the bowl and to the rim of the foot consistent with some 250 years of use. It has a rough pontil mark on the base of the foot.
The glass has a rounded funnel-shaped bowl measuring 6 cm (2.4 inches) in diameter at the rim. The bowl is plain and sits on a multi spiral air twist stem with a medial knop and shoulder and basal collars, a rare feature. The stem leads to a conical foot which measures 7.1 cm (2.8 inches) in diameter. The glass is 16.2 cm (6.5 inches) in height. There are no chips, cracks, significant scratches or any obvious signs of restoration. There are three unburst bubbles of note and a number of other minute bubbles in the metal of the bowl, all dating from manufacture.
English lead glass weighing in at 156 g. ( ~ 5 1/2 oz.).
