This is a small Alison Lowry (British, b.1976) studio paté de verre Snowflake series glass vase. Alison works out of her studio in Saintfield, Northern Ireland and also works in media other than glass. She has had residency at the Corning Museum of Glass in New York and has won multiple prizes for work in glass both in the UK and overseas.
The vase is in excellent condition for its age. It shows age related wear and tear to the base consistent with some minimal use.
The vase is of ovoid form and was cast in autumnal colours paté de verre. The base is much thicker than the sides which get thinner as it ascends to end in an almost lace-work type finish with uneven snowflake type edging. It measures 8 cm (3.2 inches) in diameter at its widest point. The vase is 9 cm (3.6 inches) in height. There are no chips, cracks, significant scratches or any obvious evidence of restoration. It carries a red sticker to the base with the characters “AL 94” written on it in the artist’s hand. It comes in its original box marked for both Alison and the gallery from which it was purchased.
It weighs in at 200 g. (~ 7 oz.).
