This is a Kosta Boda of Sweden mouth-blown Rainbow vase, designed by Bertil Vallien originally for Afors, the design dating from the 1980s.
The vase is in excellent condition for its age. It shows age related wear and tear to the base consistent with some 40 years of use.
The vase is blown in clear glass cased with white glass producing a frosted effect, and with a streak of polychrome enamel on two sides simulating the eponymous rainbow. It measures 14 cm (5.6 inches) in diameter at the bowl rim and is 11 cm (4.4 inches) in height. On the underside of the base within the polished out pontil mark are etched the words “Boda B Vallien 58285”. There are no chips, cracks, significant scratches or any obvious evidence of restoration.
It weighs in at 675 g. (~ 1 lb. 8 oz.).
