This is a mouth-blown, early 20th century Art Deco heavily cut decanter, dating from the beginning of the 20th century, c1930.
The decanter is in good condition for its age. This means, of course, that it shows the age related wear and tear to the rim of the base consistent with some 100 years of use.
The decanter has a short plain neck and is oblong in cross-section. The decanter is decorated with step cutting to the chamfered corners. The base is octagonal and plain and carries a polished out pontil mark. It measures 12.2 cm (4.9 inches) by 8 cm (3.2 inches) across. The decanter measures 19 cm (7.6 inches) in height without the stopper and 23.5cm (9.4 inches) with the stopper inserted.
The stopper is of the same metal and design and is almost certainly the original. It is a good fit, is of the right period and metal, and has the same step cutting.
One short edge of the base has been professionally ground to remove a chip. There is a small chip to each end of one of the step-cut facets of the stopper; and several small flea-bites out of the cut facets of both the stopper and the decanter. There are no other chips, cracks, significant scratches or any other obvious evidence of restoration. For some reason the top of the stopper in the main image looks yellowed but this is a trick of the light and it is, in fact, clear.
It weighs in at 1.77 kg. (~ 3 lb. 14 oz.).
