Georgian baluster tazza, 21.5 cm diameter

This is an English, Georgian, baluster tazza dating from the early 18th century, c1730.

The tazza is in excellent condition for its age. This means, of course, that it shows age related wear and tear to the rim of the foot commensurate with 200 years of use. It has a rough pontil mark on the foot which is nicely striated as is the bowl.

The tazza has a shallow bowl measuring 21.5 cm (8.6 inches) in diameter at the rim. The bowl sits on two collars, a triple annulated knop, and a true baluster containing a long, wide air tear. The stem leads to a domed and folded foot which measures 11.5 cm (4.6 inches) in diameter. The tazza is 12.5 cm (5 inches) in height. There is a tiny extraneous piece of glass on the tazza plate dating from manufacture. There are no chips, cracks, other significant scratches or any evidence of restoration.

It is made from good, grey, English lead metal, weighing in at 750 g. (~ 1 lb. 11 oz.).
