This is a late Georgian cut glass toddy lifter dating from the early to mid 19th century, c1830. Toddy lifters, of course, were used to lift measures of toddy, a popular drink at the turn of the 18th/19th centuries, from a toddy mixing rummer to a drinking rummer.

The toddy lifter is in excellent condition for its age. This means, of course, that it shows some age related wear and tear.

The toddy lifter has a diamond-facet cut thumb plate above a vertically facet cut neck with a single applied panel-cut neck ring. The lifter flares into a tapered cylindrical bulb squared off at the bottom and cut with a band of printies above a basal band of petal flute cutting. It measures 16.5 cm (6.6 inches) in height. There are no chips, cracks, significant scratches or any evidence of restoration.

An interesting example of a heavily cut late Georgian toddy lifter weighing in at 140 g. (~ 5 oz.).
