This is a very large Legras enamelled glass vase, manufactured in St. Denis, France and dating from c1920.
The vase is in excellent condition for its age. It shows age related wear and tear to the base consistent with age and use.
The vase is spherical in shape with an everted and folded rim and was blown in clear glass enamelled with an orange/terracotta coloured background and a winter scene of trees picked out in black, brown and white all above a heavily enamelled base in white, simulating snow. It measures 21cm (8.4 inches) in diameter at its widest point. It ends in a base which is plain and which carries a polished out pontil mark. The word “Legras” is picked out in black enamel on the snow at the base of one of the trees. The vase is 21 cm (8.4 inches) in height. There are no chips, cracks, significant scratches or any obvious evidence of restoration.
It weighs in at 1.8 kg. (~ 4 lb.).
