This is a small Georgian, English, engraved facet cut stem wine glass dating from the end of the 18th century, c1790.
The glass is in excellent condition for its age. It shows age related wear and tear to the rim of the foot consistent with some 200 years of use. It has a rough pontil mark on the under side of the foot.
The glass has an ovoid-shaped bowl measuring 5.2 cm (2.1 inches) in diameter at the rim. The bowl is engraved with a Neoclassical OXO (egg and dart) border under the rim and sits on a hexagonally facet cut stem. The stem ends in a conical foot which measures 6.7 cm (2.7 inches) in diameter. The glass is 12.5 cm (5 inches) in height. There are no chips, cracks, significant scratches or any obvious evidence of restoration. There is an unburst bubble in the metal of the foot dating from manufacture.
English lead glass weighing in at 125 g. (~ 4 oz.).
