This is a Georgian, English, hop and barley engraved plain stem ale glass dating from the second half of the 18th century, c1770.
The glass is in excellent condition for its age. It shows age related wear and tear to the foot consistent with 250 years of age and use. There is a rough pontil mark to the underside of the foot.
The glass has a funnel-shaped bowl measuring 5.5 cm (2.2 inches) in diameter at the rim. The bowl is engraved with a single hop flower and with crossed barley ears to verso and sits on a plain stem. The stem ends in a conical, folded foot which measures 6.7 cm (2.7 inches) in diameter. The glass is 13 cm (5.2 inches) in height. There are no chips, cracks, significant scratches or any obvious evidence of restoration.
English lead glass weighing in at 95 g. (~ 3 oz.).
