This is a Georgian, English, engraved bucket bowl dram or gin glass dating from the beginning of the 19th century, c1820.
The glass is in excellent condition for its age. It shows age related wear and tear to the foot consistent with some 200 years of age and use. There is a rough pontil mark to the underside of the foot.
The glass has a bucket-shaped bowl measuring 4.8 cm (1.9 inches) in diameter at the rim. The bowl is naively engraved with a laurel leaf border and sits on a thin capstan stem with a medial annular knop. The stem ends in a conical, folded foot which measures 5.6 cm (2.2 inches) in diameter. The glass is 9.3 cm (3.7 inches) in height. There are no chips, cracks, significant scratches or any obvious evidence of restoration. The glass has a slight lean to it dating from manufacture.
English lead glass weighing in at 80 g. (~ 3 oz.).
