Out of stock

This is a small Georgian, Continental, floral engraved mould-blown glass tankard dating from the second half of the 18th century, c1780.

The glass is in excellent condition for its age. It shows age related wear and tear to the rim of the base commensurate with some 200 years of use.

The glass has a barrel-shaped bowl measuring 6.5 cm (2.6 inches) in diameter at the top rim. The bowl is engraved with a band of foliage and flowers under the rim and is flute-moulded to the lower half. The applied handle was first affixed to the top of the bowl and then finished off near the base with a flattened curlicue. The glass is 9.5 cm (3.8 inches) in height to the top of the handle. There are no chips, cracks, significant scratches or any obvious evidence of restoration. There is a collector’s sticker on the glass on the base.

Continental soda glass weighing in at 165 g. (~ 6 oz.).
