This is a Georgian, mouth-blown, Prussian-shaped small spirit decanter dating from the early 19th century, c1820.
The decanter is in excellent condition for its age. This means, of course, that it shows age related wear and tear consistent with some 200 years of use.
The decanter is Prussian shaped with three applied triple annular neck rings. The body is petal flute cut to the shoulders and has a basal band of cut finger fluting. The base is plain with a polished out pontil mark to its centre and measures 8 cm (3.2 inches) in diameter. The decanter is 17.5 cm (7 inches) in height without the stopper and 20.5 cm (8.2 inches) in height with the stopper inserted.
The stopper is of radially cut mushroom form, and is probably not the original. It is of the same age and metal as the decanter, is of the correct form but is not an excellent fit, rocking gently in position in the neck of the decanter. Having said that the stopper can be turned in the neck and the decanter then lifted by the stopper (when empty) so not so bad a fit.
There are no chips, cracks, significant scratches or any obvious evidence of restoration. It has been professionally cleaned. It holds approximately 50 cl. of liquid.
