This is a tall Kosta Boda “Tulipa” vase designed by the late Ulrika Hydman Vallien, the design dating from 1991 (model 49731).
The vase is in excellent condition for its age. It shows age related wear and tear to the rim of the foot consistent with some use.
The vase has a waisted cylindrical (hourglass) bowl measuring 8 cm (3.2 inches) in diameter at its widest point. The bowl is hand-enamelled with a painted tulip flower in yellow and black on a green and black stem. The vase is 26 cm (10.4 inches) in height. There are no chips, cracks, significant scratches or any obvious evidence of restoration. It is signed “UHV/AZ” to the bottom of the bowl where Ulrika HV is, of course, Ulrika Hydman Vallien and AZ will have been the initials of the enameller. It carries a “Hand painted do not machine wash” sticker to the under side of the foot which is also etched with the legend “Kosta Boda Ulrika HV M49731”. The original sticker for “Kosta Boda since 1742” is still at the top of the vase.
The vase weighs 515 g. (~ 1 lb. 2 oz.).
