Victorian cut glass sugar sifter

This is a Victorian, hand-blown, cut glass sugar sifter dating from the mid 19th century, c1850.

The sifter is in excellent condition for its age. It shows age related wear and tear to the rim of the base consistent with some 150+ years of use.

The sifter is baluster-shaped, measuring 7 cm (2.8 inches) in diameter at its widest point. The sifter is cut with a band of diamonds under the rim with prism cuts above and below. The main part of the sifter is cut with ovals filled with hobnail diamond cutting. There is a yellow metal cap. The base carries a polished out pontil mark to the underside. The sifter is 18.5 cm (7.4 inches) in height. There are no chips, cracks, significant scratches or any evidence of restoration.

English lead glass. It weighs 245 g. (~ 9 oz.).
