This is a heavy late Victorian mouth-blown amber glass celery vase dating from the middle to late 19th century. It has a polished out pontil mark on the underside of the foot.
The vase is in excellent condition for its age. It shows age related wear and tear to both the rim of the bowl and to the rim of the foot consistent with some 150+ years of use.
The vase has a campana-shaped bowl measuring 13.5 cm (5.4 inches) in diameter at the rim. The bowl is gadrooned to the lower part but is otherwise plain and sits on an inverted baluster stem and a shallow, conical foot that measures 11.3 cm (4.5 inches) in diameter. The vase is an impressive 29 cm (11.2 inches) in height.
It weighs 980 g. ( ~ 2 lb. 3 oz.). There are no chips, cracks, significant scratches or any obvious evidence of restoration. There are some small inclusions and unburst bubbles in the metal of the vase, all dating from manufacture.
