This is an English, Georgian, large baluster tazza dating from the early 18th century, c1730.
The tazza is in excellent condition for its age. This means, of course, that it shows age related wear and tear to the rim of the foot commensurate with 200 years of use. It has a rough pontil mark on the foot which is nicely striated as is the bowl.
The tazza has a shallow bowl measuring 33.5 cm (1 ft. 1 inch) in diameter at the rim. The bowl sits on a collar and a hollow inverted baluster stem with a basal knop (hourglass stem) containing a long, wide air tear. The stem leads to a domed and folded foot which measures 14.5 cm (5.8 inches) in diameter. The tazza is 12.2 cm (4.9 inches) in height. There is some light scratching to the surfaces of the tazza. There are no chips, cracks, other significant scratches or any evidence of restoration.
It is made from good, grey, English lead metal, weighing in at 1,350 g. (~ 3 lb.).
