This is a large Spanish mouth-blown polychrome enamelled bowl dating from the first half of the 20th century and attributed to Genis Cirera Casanova (1890-1970). Genis Cirera Casanova was the last great artisans dedicated to fire glazed glass. He achieved awards in national and international exhibitions including the special prize of decorative arts. Bilbao in 1928, Barcelona in 1943,1944,1947,1950, Sabaddel in 1949, Manresa in 1949 , Sitges in 1950, and Lleida in 1957. Each of his pieces was unique. He worked until 1960 but his workshop continued for much longer, run by his daughter and son.
The bowl is in excellent condition for its age.  It shows age related wear and tear to the base consistent with some 100 years of use.
The bowl is blown in clear glass and is blown in a campana shape.  The exterior of the bowl and the upper side of the foot have been enamelled with a polychromatic scene of knights on horseback in a forest with floral adornment.  It measures 26 cm (10.4 inches) in diameter across the bowl rim and is 20 cm (8 inches) in height.  There is a polished out pontil mark to the underside of the small conical foot.  There are no chips, cracks, significant scratches or any obvious evidence of restoration.
Probably made out of potash glass, it weighs in at 2.08 kg. (~ 4 lb. 9 oz.).
