This is a tall, contemporary, mouth-blown studio glass vase, designed by Barbara Farni for Sotsass Associates in Murano, Italy.
The vase is in excellent condition. It shows some age related wear and tear to the rim of the base consistent with some use.
The vase is blown in clear glass which has been satinised to the lower third and decorated with vertical silk-screened lines in green blue, purple, orange and yellow. It measures 13.8 cm (5.5 inches) in diameter at its widest point, and is 35 cm (14 inches) in height. There are no chips, cracks, significant scratches or any obvious evidence of restoration. The words “BARBARA FORNI for hwc EGIZIA by SOTSASS ASSOCIATES” are printed just above the base of the vase and it also bears a plastic label for “VETRO SOFFIATO A BOCCA SERIGRAFATO A MANO MOUTH-BLOWN GLASS SILK SCREENED BY HAND MADEIN ITALY” just below the top rim.
It weighs in at 2.325 kg. (~ 5 lb. 2 oz.).
