Victorian, English panel-cut ovoid bowl rummer glass

SORRY SOLD

1 in stock

This is an early Victorian, English, panel-cut, mouth-blown ovoid bowl rummer glass dating from the middle of the 19th century, c1840.

The glass is in excellent condition for its age. It shows age related wear and tear to both the rim of the bowl and to the rim of the foot commensurate with some 200 years of use. It has a polished pontil mark on the under side of the foot.

The glass has an ovoid-shaped bowl measuring 8.7 cm (3.5 inches) in diameter at the rim. The otherwise plain bowl is cut with ten ovals and sits on a capstan stem with a medial ball knop. The stem leads to a conical foot which measures 7.7 cm (3.1 inches) in diameter. The glass is 14.5 cm (5.8 inches) in height. There are no chips, cracks, significant scratches or any obvious evidence of restoration. There is some light water staining to the bowl.

Lead glass weighing in at 380 g. ( ~ 13 1/2 oz.).
