Victorian pair of latticino twist decanters

£150.00

1 in stock

This is a pair of Victorian mouth-blown latticino cane glass bottle decanters in the Murano style dating from about 1850. They each hold about one full bottle of wine.

The decanters are in excellent condition for their age. This means, of course, that they show age related wear and tear consistent with some 100 years of use.

The decanters are bottle-shaped with everted pouring rims. The decanters were blown in clear glass and contain thin white latticino canes which spiral up from the base. The bases measure 8 cm (3.2 inches) in diameter and have polished out pontil marks to their underside. The decanters measure 30.5 cm (12.2 inches) in height without the stoppers and 35.8 cm (14.3 inches) in height with the stoppers inserted.

The stoppers are of octagonal form and are almost certainly the originals. They are an excellent fit, and are of the correct style and colour containing the same well-worked latticno canes.

There are no chips, cracks, significant scratches or any obvious evidence of restoration.

Each decanter weighs 595 g. (~ 1 lb. 5 oz.). A rather beautiful pair of mouth-blown decanters.
