This is a William IV/early Victorian, mouth-blown, Bristol green glass mell decanter dating from the early to mid 19th century, c1835/1840.
The decanter is in excellent condition for its age. This means, of course, that it shows the age related wear and tear to the rim of the base consistent with some 180 years of use. There is a rough pontil mark to the underside of the base.
The decanter has been mouth-blown in Bristol green glass. The decanter measures 16 cm (6.4 inches) in diameter at its widest point and is 18 cm (7.2 inches) in height. There is some noticeable scratching on the pouring lip. There are no chips, cracks, other significant scratches or any evidence of restoration. It comes with an associated mother of pearl and cork stopper for Brandy.
It weighs in at 470 g. (~ 1 lb. 1 oz.).
