This is a Whitefriars glass coffin vase, model 9686, in the Pewter colourway designed by Geoffrey Baxter as part of the Textured range and dating from the 1970s.
The vase is in excellent condition for its age. It shows age related wear and tear to the rim of the base consistent with use.
The vase is shaped like a coffin, measuring 5 cm (2 inches) by 4 cm (1.6 inches) across the top. The vase is blown in pewter (grey) coloured glass cased with clear glass and is decorated with a moulded pattern to the front and back simulating bark, being plain on the other two sides. It ends in a base of approximately the same proportions as the top. The vase is 13 cm (5.2 inches) in height and 8 cm (3.2 inches) across at its widest point. There are no chips, cracks, significant scratches or any obvious evidence of restoration.
Lead glass. It weighs in at 575 g. (~ 1 lb. 4 oz.).
