This is a Georgian, English, balustroid stem wine glass dating from the middle of the 18th century, c1740.

The glass is in excellent condition for its age. It shows age related wear and tear to the rim of the foot commensurate with some 250 years of use. It has a rough pontil mark on the underside of the foot.

The glass has an ogee-shaped bowl measuring 4.8 cm (1.9 inches) in diameter at the rim. The bowl is engraved with swags and tails under the rim and is moulded with finger fluting to the lower half. The bowl sits on a plain stem with a medial swollen knop which ends in a conical, folded foot which measures 6.6 cm (2.6 inches) in diameter. The glass is 13 cm (5.2 inches) in height. There are no chips, cracks, significant scratches or any obvious evidence of restoration. There are a couple of tiny white inclusions (probably clinker) in the metal of the bowl dating from manufacture.

English lead glass weighing in at 105 g. (~ 4 oz.).
