This is a Georgian, plain bowl jelly glass dating from the second half of the 18th century, c1770.
The glass is in excellent condition for its age. This means, of course, that it shows age related wear and tear to the rim of the foot consistent with some 200 years of use.
The glass has a bell-shaped bowl measuring 5.8 cm (2.3 inches) in diameter at the everted rim. The bowl is plain and sits directly on an annular knop and a plain, conical foot which measures 5.7 cm (2.3 inches) in diameter. The glass is 9.4 cm (3.7 inches) in height. There are no chips, cracks, significant scratches or any obvious evidence of restoration. The foot has been sheared off roughly at manufacture leaving it uneven in places but it is exactly as it was made save for the wear and tear. There is a collector’s sticker to the bottom of the foot and another to the top of the foot.
