Georgian, panel-cut jelly or syllabub glass

This is a late Georgian, panel-cut jelly or syllabub glass dating from the beginning of the 19th century, c1830.

The glass is in excellent condition for its age. This means, of course, that it shows age related wear and tear to the rim of the foot consistent with some 200 years of use. It has a polished out pontil mark on the underside of the foot.

The glass has a bucket-shaped bowl measuring 7 cm (2.8 inches) in diameter at the everted rim. The bowl is cut with six vertical panels and sits directly on a conical foot which measures 5.5 cm (2.2 inches) in diameter. The glass is 10.3 cm (4.1 inches) in height. There are a couple of minute flea bite chips to the cut edges of the panels as is to be expected of this form of this age. There are no other chips, cracks, significant scratches or any obvious evidence of restoration. There is a collector’s sticker to the bottom of the foot.

English lead glass weighing in at 195 g. (~ 7 oz.).
