This is a Georgian, flute and honeycomb-moulded balustroid wine glass probably originating from Liege in Belgium and dating from the middle to late 18th century, c1770.
The glass is in excellent condition for its age. It shows age related wear and tear to the rim of the foot consistent with some 250 years of use. It has a rough pontil mark on the foot.
The glass has a rounded bucket bowl measuring 5.5 cm (2.2 inches) in diameter at the rim. The bowl is honeycomb-moulded to the top half and finger flute moulded to the lower. The bowl sits on a balustroid stem with shoulder and basal knops and containing a long well-worked air tear. The stem leads to a conical, folded foot which measures 6.5 cm (2.6 inches) in diameter. The glass is 13 cm (5.2 inches) in height. There are no chips, cracks, scratches or any obvious signs of restoration.
Thinly blown lead glass weighing in at 75 g. (~ 2 1/2 oz.).
