This is a late Georgian mould-blown pepperette, dating from the beginning of the 19th century, c1820.
The pepperette is in excellent condition for its age. It shows age related wear and tear consistent with some 200 years of use.
The pepperette is blown in clear glass and is an extended gourde in shape. It measures 5 cm (2 inches) in diameter and is 14.2 cm (5.7 inches) in height. The bottle is cut with a band of patterae within moulded panel fluting. There is a push-on white metal cap (no hallmarks so probably silver plate). The cruet ends in a short piece of plain stem and a lemon squeezer foot which measures 5 cm (2 inches) across. There are the normal minor chips to the edges and corners of the square foot. There are no other chips, cracks, significant scratches or any other obvious evidence of restoration.
It weighs in at 195 g. (~ 7 oz.).
