Georgian wrythen-moulded glass sugar bowl, blue glass rim

This is a Georgian, mouth-blown, wrythen-moulded glass sugar bowl with an applied blue glass rim dating from the turn of the 18th/19th centuries, c1800.

The bowl is in excellent condition for its age. This means, of course, that it shows age related wear and tear to the rim of the foot commensurate with 200+ years of use. It has a rough pontil mark to the base.

The bowl is of ogee form in the clear colourway and measures 12.2 cm (4.8 inches) in diameter at the rim which has been embellished with applied blue glass. The bowl is wrythen-moulded. The bowl ends in a short conical foot which measures 6.4 cm (2.5 inches) in diameter. The bowl is 8.8 cm (3.4 inches) in height. There are no chips, cracks, significant scratches or any evidence of restoration. There is a tiny dark inclusion (probably coal) in the metal of the bowl dating from manufacture and some dirt has managed to get into the edge of the foot.

English lead glass weighing in at 165 g. (~ 6 oz.).
