Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, mouth-blown water jug

£30.00

1 in stock

This is a late Georgian style mould-blown glass jug produced for and sold by the Metropolitan Museum of Art of New York City, NY, USA from their gift shop.

The jug is in excellent condition for its age. This means, of course, that it shows age related wear and tear to the rim of the base consistent with some years of use. It has a rough pontil mark on the base.

The jug is of broadly cylindrical form in the clear colourway and measures 15.5 cm (6.2 inches) by 12 cm (4.8 inches) across at the extended pouring rim. The jug has been blown into a mould and measures 9.2 cm (3.6 inches) in diameter across the base. The jug is 18.5 cm (7.4 inches) in height and has a looped, applied handle affixed first to the top of the jug and ending lower, at the middle point of the jug, in the Georgian style. There are no chips, cracks, significant scratches or any evidence of restoration. There is a Metropolitan Museum of Art sticker to the base.

It weighs 1.115 kg. (~ 2 lb. 7 oz.).
