This is a scarce Holmegaard of Denmark large mouth-blown Dråben (Drop) vase, designed by Per Lūtken (1916-1998) and dating from 1964.
The vase is in excellent condition for its age. It shows age related wear and tear to the rim of the base consistent with some 60 years of use.
The vase is blown in blue glass and is approximately teardrop-shaped. It measures 21 cm (8.4 inches) across at its widest point. It ends in a base which is plain, save for a polished out pontil mark, and on which are etched the letters “Holmegaard PL 15471”. The vase is 27 cm (10.8 inches) in height. There are no chips, cracks, significant scratches or any other obvious evidence of restoration.
It weighs in at 2.9 kg. (~ 6 lb. 6 oz.).
