This is a Theresienthal Jugendstil hand-enamelled cordial decanter dating from the beginning of the 20th century, c1910.
The decanter is in excellent condition for its age. This means, of course, that it shows the age related wear and tear to the rim of the base consistent with some 100 years of use.
The decanter has an everted pouring lip that leads to a slim neck embellished with a gilded band and a pear-shaped reservoir. The reservoir is decorated with a gilded band to the top and with purple, yellow and green flora to the lower part, the design picked out in gilt. The reservoir sits on a short, plain stem and foot which carries a polished out pontil mark and measures 8 cm (3.2 inches) in diameter. The decanter measures 21.5 cm (8.6 inches) in height without the stopper and 28 cm (11.2 inches) with the stopper inserted. There are no chips, cracks, significant scratches or any evidence of restoration. The gilding and enamel is very lightly rubbed in places.
The stopper is of inverted pear form and is probably the original.
The decanter weighs in at 380 g. (~ 13 oz.).
