This is an Iittala of Finland tall Orchidea vase, designed by Timo Sarpaneva, the design dating from the 1950s.
The vase is in excellent condition for its age. It shows age related wear and tear to the rim of the base consistent with some 70 years of use.
The vase is blown in clear glass and is roughly a tear drop in shape; the orifice for the flower sitting on one extended side. It measures 8 cm (3.2 inches) in diameter at its widest point. It ends in a base which is plain on which are etched the letters “Timo Sarpaneva 3568”. The vase is 26 cm (10.4 inches) in height. There are no chips, cracks, significant scratches or any other obvious evidence of restoration.
It weighs in at 1.875 kg. (~ 4 lb. 2 oz.).
