This is a mouth-blown, Curly Fatto a Mano (made by hand) carafe produced by Riedel of Austria. It is designed for a single bottle of wine and according to Riedel “The coils and curvature of the Curly decanter helps to charge and aerate wine. The twists of the decanter form a soft and playful spiral, with a slim tail for decoration and wider spout for easy pouring. This decanter has been handmade, meaning each piece is slightly unique”.
The lead crystal carafe is in excellent condition. This means of course that it shows minimal age related wear and tear to the rim of the base consistent with some use.
The carafe has a distinctive shape with the curl opening the wine up to let it breathe. It measures 17 cm (6.8 inches) in diameter at its widest point and is 26.5 cm (10.6 inches) in height. There are no chips, cracks, significant scratches or any other obvious evidence of restoration. This one is enhanced in pink but other colours are available.
A remarkably original piece of glassblowing weighing in at 770 g. (~ 1 lb. 12 oz.). It has a maximum capacity of 1400 ml., approximately two bottles of wine.
