This is a Georgian, English, hop and barley engraved dwarf ale glass dating from the turn of the 18th/19th centuries, c1800.
The glass is in excellent condition for its age. This means, of course, that it shows age related wear and tear to the rim of the foot consistent with some 200 years of use. It has a rough pontil mark on the underside of the foot.
The glass has a funnel-shaped bowl measuring 5.6 cm (2.2 inches) in diameter at the rim. The bowl is engraved with a single hop flower to one side and with crossed barley ears to verso. The bowl sits on a short inverted baluster stem and a conical foot which measures 6.3 cm (2.5 inches) in diameter. The glass is 12.2 cm (4.9 inches) in height. There are no chips, cracks, significant scratches or any obvious evidence of restoration. There are some unburst bubbles in the metal of the foot, close to the pontil mark, dating from manufacture.
It is made from lead metal weighing 120 g. (~ 4 oz.).
