This is a Victorian mould-blown pickle jar dating from the second half of the 19th century, c1870.

The jar is in excellent condition for its age. It shows age related wear and tear to the base consistent with some 150 years of age and use.

The body of the jar is cylindrical, and is has been mould-blown with panels at the shoulders above a band of printies, above a band of diamonds between prisms, above three rows of printies. It measures 8.3 cm (3.3 inches) in diameter at its widest point. The base is star-cut. The lid is of clipped disk form, and is probably the original. Assembled, the jar measures 17.5 cm (7inches) in height. There are no chips, cracks, scratches or any evidence of restoration.

It weighs in at 425 g. (~ 15 oz.).
