Georgian Bristol blue mouth-blown sugar bowl

This is a late Georgian, mouth-blown, monogram-engraved Bristol blue glass sugar bowl dating from the turn of the 18th/19th centuries, c1800.

The bowl is in excellent condition for its age. This means of course that it shows age related wear and tear to the rim of the base consistent with some 200 years of use. It has a rough pontil mark on the underside of the foot.

It has a cup-shaped bowl measuring 13.2 cm (5.3 inches) in diameter at the upper rim. The bowl is blown in Bristol blue glass and is plain save for the two letters “IT” engraved on one side. The bowl is 11 cm (4.4 inches) in height. The bowl ends in a domed, folded foot which measures 9.4 cm (3.7 inches) in diameter. There are no chips, cracks, significant scratches or any other obvious evidence of restoration.

A nice period bowl weighing in at 300 g. (~ 11 oz.).
