This is a nicely proportioned Georgian, English, wrythen-moulded dwarf ale glass dating from the turn of the 18th/19th centuries, c1800.
The glass is in excellent condition for its age. This means, of course, that it shows age related wear and tear to the rim of the foot consistent with some 200 years of use. It has a rough pontil mark on the underside of the foot.
The glass has a funnel-shaped bowl measuring 6.3 cm (2.5 inches) in diameter at the rim. The bowl is wrythen-moulded to the lower two-thirds and sits on a short, wrythened and knopped stem and a conical foot which measures 7 cm (2.8 inches) in diameter. The glass is 14.7 cm (5.9 inches) in height. There are no chips, cracks, significant scratches or any obvious evidence of restoration. The are a couple of unburst bubbles in the metal of the bowl dating from manufacture.
It is made from lead metal weighing 185 g. (~ 6 1/2 oz.).
