This is a pair of large and very heavy Baccarat candlesticks made in France.
The candlesticks are in good condition for their age. They show the age related wear and tear to the rims of the bases consistent with some use.
The candlesticks are in a combination of frosted and clear glass. The stems are in the form of frosted glass “dolphins” with the faces of women and the curled bodies of fish in what appear to be more like mermaids than dolphins. The stems sit on domed clear glass feet with serrated edges which measure 17 cm (6.8 inches) in diameter. The ribbed holder at the top of the stems supports a branched frosted glass stem which supports two further ribbed candle holders in clear glass above reeded drip pans from which hang sets of faceted prism droppers. The frosted glass socle holder has a clear glass spire finial. The candlesticks are an impressive 43 cm (1 foot 5 inches) in height and each weighs over 2.5 kg. (~ 6 lbs).
There are two small chips out of edge of one of the socles and a repaired crack to another; this damage can be seen in the appropriate images. There are no other chips, cracks, significant scratches or any evidence of restoration.
