Set of four Theresienthal enamelled wine glasses

This is a set of four Theresienthal enamelled hock glasses (wein glas), manufactured in Bavaria, Germany, and dating from the early 20th century, c1907.  The glasses are design number 1496 which be seen in the book “Theresienthal” by Karl-Wilhelm Warthorst of the Theresienthal factory on page 112 where they are dated to 1907.

The glasses are in excellent condition for their age. They show minimal age related wear and tear commensurate with use.

The glasses measure 7.5 cm (3 inches) in diameter across the bowl rims. The glasses are 20 cm (8 inches) in height. The bowls are enamelled with fruiting, trailing vines and are gilded at the rims. The bowls lead to clear glass stems and conical feet which measure 7.3 cm (2.9 inches) in diameter. The feet are decorated with radial green lines and show the remains of gilding to the upper side edges. There are no chips, cracks, significant scratches or any evidence of restoration. The gilding is rubbed in places. There are some tiny unburst bubbles in the metal of the feet.

Each glass weighs 145 g. (~ 5 oz.).
