Stuart Strathearn small glass bud vase, gold leaf on black base

This is a small glass bud vase designed and blown by Stuart Strathearn Glass in their Scottish studios, probably in the 1980s. The pattern is normally attributed to Iestyn Davies as designer, dating from 1986.

The vase is in excellent condition. It shows age related wear and tear to the rim of the base consistent with age and use.

The vase is of baluster form and measures 3.4 cm (1.3 inches) in diameter at the everted rim. It measures 5.5 cm (2.2 inches) in diameter at its widest point. The vase was blown in black glass and decorated with patches of gold or oxidised silver leaf. It is 11 cm (4.4 inches) in height. There are no chips, cracks, significant scratches or any obvious signs of restoration. It is signed “STUART Strathearn” to the base.

Lead glass weighing in at 150 g. ( ~ 5 oz.).
